For Boston sports fans everywhere, today is a very exciting day. It’s Opening Day for the Boston Red Sox! The Sox will be playing the Philadelphia Phillies at 3:05 in Philly. And that’s not all. There’s more sports excitement in our house. The Wisconsin Badgers play in the championship game tonight against Duke. Go Badgers!
Spending a good portion of my childhood in Wisconsin, the Badgers have always been a favorite sports team. Once I moved to Boston the Boston Red Sox joined in the fun. It’s easy to get caught up in the excitement. I’ve been fortunate to experience three World Series wins [2].

This year I’ve been invited to work closely with the Boston Red Sox once again as part of the Red Sox Moms Club [2], along with a few other fabulous Boston bloggers. If you’re interested in what we’re up to you can follow along on Twitter [3] and Instagram using the #RedSoxMoms hashtag.

My duties will include bringing you all sorts of goodies surrounding the Red Sox including event information and other activities happening within the Boston Red Sox organization. Maybe I can sneak in a few ‘green’ requests too!

This year I already have some exciting Red Sox news to share.
In 2015, the Red Sox are “Calling All Kids” [6] to join Red Sox Kid Nation, presented by Hood, for free. The first 25,000 kids registered for Red Sox Kid Nation will receive a free ticket to a 2015 game. You read that right, the team has committed 25,000 free tickets to kids in 2015. Free tickets can be redeemed by signing up for Kid Nation: HERE [7].
The free tickets are not the only element of “Calling All Kids [6]”. The team is also making Fenway Park an even more kid-friendly atmosphere with the addition of:
- Gate K & Kid Nation Concourse – A special new entrance at Fenway dedicated to children and families located adjacent to Gate B near the corner of Van Ness and Ipswich Streets. The gate will lead fans into the new Kid Nation Concourse featuring new attractions for young fans, including: A seven-foot giant Wally bobblehead, Interactive video wall, Life-size images & footprints Red Sox players, Balloon artist, stilt walker, and face painter, Kid-themed concessions including a $5 kids meal (mini hot dog, cotton candy, and a small juice).
- Wally’s Clubhouse – Red Sox Kid Nation Clubhouse is being transformed into the new “Wally’s Clubhouse,” open from the 3rd to the 7th inning season-long, providing families with a respite from inclement weather, a place to play and walk around, and a welcoming venue for children to meet Wally the Green Monster.
- Red Sox Kids Crew – A new group of Fenway Park staff, Red Sox Kids Crew, will greet kids as they enter Gate K, lead children in games, and provide families with assistance and information about kid-friendly Fenway Park activities.
- $9 Student Tickets for those 15 and older – The Red Sox will make tickets available for every home game for all students 15 and older – from high school through college. The $9 ticket is the lowest at Fenway Park, and it guarantees at least standing room, but may also be upgraded to seats when they are available. These tickets are available online HERE [8].
