Product Review: LunchBots Stainless Steel Lunch Containers

Lunch boxes are a hot topic of conversation these days. It’s hard not to talk about them when children’s lunches create more than 3.5 billion pounds of garbage each year ^[2], which amounts to a crazy 18,760 pounds of trash annually from an average sized elementary school. That’s a lot of waste.

The Sierra Club ^[3] estimates that families spend $85/year on disposable plastic baggies. Over the years our family has gradually switched to reusable products and phased out the single-use, disposable, plastic baggies.

Investing in reusable products might be a bit of an investment upfront, but the savings over the life of the products is substantial.

LunchBots for squishables

LunchBots have been a great addition to our reusable collection. They are a green and eco-friendly option for any adult or child’s lunch box. We use LunchBots for our squishables and more. What are squishables? Any type of food that could get squished in a reusable bag: grapes, blueberries, strawberries, watermelon, sliced apples and bananas. The Uno (blue lid) is a bit larger and perfect for a sandwich. The Duo (orange lid) is the same size as the Uno, but has a stainless divider to separate food.

The Eco (green lid) is the largest of the group and doesn’t have a divider. It works well for a salad or other larger lunch options. I’ve also seen it used to bring home restaurant leftovers. You can also buy all 4 containers at once with the LunchBots set.
