Groovy Green Friday: Tide Petition, Menstrual Cups and More

Groovy Green Livin Pelican [1]

We met this cute pelican while vacationing last week. He reminded me of a character from a Pixar film-what a personality this bird had. He was determined to catch a fish and wouldn’t let anything get in his way, not even small children or fishing hooks.

Now an entire week has gone by and vacation [2] feels like it was months ago. Don’t you hate when that happens? At least the weekend is just around the corner.

Before we jump into all the weekend has in store I thought I would share a few happenings over the past week or so.

Groovy Green Livin Named One of Top 25 Green Bloggers 2012

I’m honored to be named one of SkinnyScoop’s Top 25 Green Bloggers for 2012. Have you checked out the SkinnyScoop site?  If you’re a mom you know that at times life can feel a bit insane. SkinnyScoop is a great way to check in on your sanity. It’s a quick and easy online surveying tool that helps moms who want the skinny get the scoop.

Tide Petition signatures continue to climb, but no word from P & G

The momentum continues as we keep the pressure on Procter & Gamble [3] to remove a cancer causing chemical from their Tide Free & Gentle laundry detergent. We are at 75,219 signatures and the numbers continue to rise!  A big thank you to Rachel Sarnoff, Executive Director and CEO of Healthy Child Healthy World for her kind words and recognition of our efforts in her recent blog post. This week the petition [4] was also mentioned in a Huffington Post article [5]. If you haven’t signed the petition yet please take a few seconds to do so HERE [4].

More on menstrual cups

I’ll bet you thought you were finished with my menstrual cup adventures [6]. Remember I shared with you my SoftCup [7] trials and tribulations [8]?  Thanks to my friend Jennifer from It’s Not Easy to Be Green [9] the menstrual cup discussion continues. She was kind enough to share my two cents on menstrual cups along with four other women. Check out what we had to say HERE [10].

Pinterest pick of the week

This week I’ve been talking a lot about baking soda [11] and all of its incredible uses. Here’s yet one more use: removing splinters. The pin of the week goes to this pin [12] which describes how to remove splinters using a baking soda paste. Micaela from Mindful Momma also found some Cool Eco Crafts on Pinterest [13].  Are you on Pinterest? You can find me HERE. [12]

Have yourself a groovy green weekend. Any big plans?
