Eco Swim Bathing Suit by Aqua Green {Review}

As much as I would love to be wearing a bathing suit and lounging on the beach right about now, it’s not looking good. We just had another snowfall and there’s more to come. As I look outside my office window I see a sea of white covering the ground. And it’s not melting anytime soon.

Truth be told I love winter. I couldn’t imagine living without my annual dose of skiing and other fun outdoor winter activities. But summer has it’s perks too. Ski season is still in full swing so I can only dream of beach days, curled up with a good book.

Finding a swim suit that fits in all the right places isn’t an easy task. I’m pretty picky and generally end up spending too much time on the hunt for the perfect bathing suit. When I was contacted by ECO SWIM by AQUA GREEN [2] I was excited to see how a bathing suit and sustainable could work together.

ECO SWIM by AQUA GREEN

ECO SWIM by AQUA GREEN [2] is a U.S. based company leading the charge for a better and more sustainable tomorrow. They are taking “green” into the mainstream. As a fourth generation family-owned company, they believe their family has a responsibility to your family to reduce our environmental impact. They currently design, fit, source, cut and sew in their home state of Pennsylvania.

As important as it is to reduce, reuse and recycle, they also believe that those looking to ‘reduce their carbon footprint in the sand’ should look and feel great while doing so.  Comfort, quality and style are not sacrificed in their mission to help our planet.

I was happy to hear that they are not doing this because it’s trendy to be green, but because they know it’s the right thing to do.

They have also put their money where their mouth is by funding clean-up projects. To date, the sustainable swimwear company has collected over 50,000 pounds of trash from our beaches. They are also planning and funding 13 clean up events for 2013.

The Bathing Suit

My dreaming of summer was beginning to feel like a reality when the folks at AQUA GREEN offered to send me a bathing suit for review. I was a bit concerned because it’s really hard to buy a suit online, without trying it on. I was positive that this suit would have to go back and forth a few times before I found one that fit and I knew that wouldn’t be very green of me. I asked if their suits were pretty true to size and they assured me that they were. So I picked out a suit and hoped for the best.

The suit actually fits and it covers everything it needs to cover.  The top has sewn in padding. I like this feature since I generally find the padding in bathing suits folds over or falls out. The material is thicker than most suits and doesn’t look as though it will start pilling after a few wears. I really love how the bottom fits-low rise, but not too low.

The colors of the suit are great-black, taupe and an off white string. I only question the tassels on the top of the suit. I’m not much of  a tassel girl. What do you think?

Now I’m excited for those days on the beach. But first I have a few more days of skiing in me!

Disclosure: I was sent a bathing suit by ECO SWIM by AQUA GREEN for review. The opinions are my very own.
