ESP Goes to the Oscars and Grammys

Hollywood

essential safe productsOne of our sponsors, Essential Safe Products (ESP), has some BIG news to share.  They are heading to the Grammy Awards and Oscars in 2012! No, they haven’t been nominated for an award, but they will be hobnobbing with some of the biggest celebs.

ESP has been named the featured sponsor for the 2012 Grammy Awards Backstage Talent Gift Lounge and coveted Gift Bag. How awesome is that? For those of you not in the know, there is an entire gift lounge filled with all of the hottest and trendy brands for the celebs to check out and take home. There will be a small section in the gift lounge completely dedicated to ESP.

Take a peek at last years Grammy Awards Gift Lounge:

I recently introduced you to Essential Safe Products, a site started by a Florida mother of six who has always been dedicated to providing a healthy and safe environment for her family. She created ESP as a one-stop, easy and friendly resource for those looking to learn about and lead a non-toxic lifestyle in the kitchen and on-the-go.

ESP will be the only non-toxic kitchen and on-the-go product company represented in the Grammy Gift Lounge. What a fantastic way to spread the ‘green and eco-friendly’ word. Over 150 celebrities will walk out of that lounge with gift bags from ESP with all sorts of non-toxic offerings valued at over $250.

Hannah from ESP shared with me why she is so excited to be a part of the Grammy buzz:

We are really hoping that by being a part of the gift bags we can help get the word out about hazardous chemicals and give people a place where they can find products to help them make chemical free changes in their lives at their own pace. There are so many people in this country who have never heard of BPA, and if they have, they don’t know about the dangers or other chemicals in products!  By being in the Grammy Lounge, I am hoping the media exposure will get various newspaper and television outlets to start talking about toxic chemicals…..

ESP will also be a partial sponsor for the 2012 “Everybody Wins at the Oscars” nominee gift bag. These bags are given to those celebrities who don’t actually win the Oscars, but who were nominated.

At the Grammy Awards Hannah will be working the booth with her fiancé (lucky them!) sharing their non-toxic mission with all of the celebs. Congratulations ESP for helping to bring green, eco-friendly living to the mainstream.

p.s. I’m available to help out!

What do you think about an eco-friendly, green company getting into the Grammy and Oscar gift bags?

Highlights From BlogHer 2011

San Diego Skyline BlogHer 2011

Imagine 3,400 bloggers all in one space. Add to that speakers, brands and many others that helped wow me this past weekend in San Diego for BlogHer.  My days were packed with fabulous sessions, meetings with amazing women and time spent checking out the unimaginable amounts of swag available for the taking.

After four incredible days it was time to head home. The trip was long but thankfully I was sitting next to two bloggers,  one who blogs anonymously so I don’t want to give any of her info away and Megan, who entertained me for the entire 5 + hours on the flight. After giving my boys too many hugs and kisses to count, I spent a good portion of the day yesterday digesting the whirlwind surrounding my adventures at BlogHer.  It’s impossible to document each and every amazing encounter over the weekend, but I will try to highlight a few. I will say that the group of women I met couldn’t have been more interesting, intelligent and diverse. And there was one thing that brought us all together: blogging.

Highlights from BlogHer 2011

View of San Diego from my hotel room. San Diego weather rocks. Thanks to Cathy and Megan for sharing the view.San Diego room view BlogHer 2011

A highlight of the weekend was connecting with a few of the amazing women from the Green Moms Carnival: Micaela(Mindful Momma), Mary (In Women We Trust), Amber (Strocel.com), Katy (Non-Toxic Kids), Beth (My Plastic Free Life) and Harriet (Climate Mama).  Most of us were armed with our reusable water bottles and disheartened by the amount of single-use plastic disposables used throughout the conference.Green Moms Carnival BlogHer 2011

Vegan table of food -there was also a gluten free table.

So there you have the highlights, but it’s impossible to leave out mention of the decadent parties at night (including a fab greenie party by Calley over at The Echo Chic), the blisters on my feet and the awesome flash mob by 5 Minutes for Mom.

Host a Party, Raise Awareness-Healthy Child Healthy World

Healthy Child Healthy World is a non-profit involved in  raising awareness and responsibility, inspiring parents to protect young children from harmful chemicals. Their site provides a forum which informs and inspires millions of people to take action and create cleaner, greener, safer environments for children and families. It is a place to find up-to-date information on current topics concerning children and their environment. Healthy Child Healthy World is  my go-to site for so many topics.

I was thrilled when they asked me to host one of their Healthy Home Parties and then blog about it. These parties were created as way of educating and empowering family, friends, schools and the community to create healthy living environments for children.

One afternoon a big box arrived at my door and I couldn’t wait to see what was inside. I knew that Klean Kanteen and Luna were the biggie sponsors -but there were samples, coupons and information from so many others.

I was amazed to see how many companies had jumped on-board, offering samples and information -ready to make the world a safer place for our kids.

We were eager to try out the products and use the coupons. Each family was set up with a goody bag filled with an assortment of samples, coupons, information and instructions from me: try out the products and let me know what you think.

There is nothing like trying out a new, exciting product with your children-especially when there is no question that the products are completely non-toxic and safe.  Here are some of our children checking out the goods.  Sometimes a picture says a thousand words……..at least when sampling snacks is involved.

Here is one happy guy enjoying the Clif Kid Organic Twisted Fruit.  My kids loved these too.  Not only do they taste yummy they are also allergy friendly for those of us with food sensitivities in our families.

Nothing like some fun bubble bath from Yes to Carrots to provide hours of non-toxic entertainment in the tub.  Check out these two cuties on the right-someday they will be completely mortified that this photo was used.

These two red-headed brothers were willing to try all the samples their parents were willing to share. They admitted to loving the  Luna bars.

Lots of delicious samples were had by all.  Each sample was yet another example of how  snacks can be healthy, non-toxic and taste great.  I think they all agreed! The non-toxic bubble bath and floor cleaners were also a big hit.

My guys showing their support for Klean Kanteen water bottles.

There were many other products highlighted-cleaners, Klean Kanteen water bottles, CleanWell Hand Sanitizer and many others.  It was nice to share alternatives to the many harmful, toxic  products on the market.  Hopefully, with the information and coupons, we can all make at least one simple change that will create a safer world for us all.

Groovy Green Livin GIVEAWAY and Product Review: Rotorcaps

“In trash we shall find treasure”.  That’s the tagline for a super cool company that recycles bottlecaps collected from Philadelphia bars and transforms them into unique pieces of jewelry.  Rotorcaps turns bottlecaps into pendants, earrings and cufflinks.

Jen Roder is the superstar behind these amazing pieces.  Jen has been making jewelry for most of her life.  She studied fine arts in college and majored in metals.  She is a carpenter and woodworker by trade and uses salvaged and recycled materials whenever possible.

Jen tells us that “Rotorcaps are made with materials from everyday life that would normally end up in the trash. My aim is to transform these materials into jewelry for adornment and quirky personal expression. It is also to get people excited about recycling and the idea that we can look at these items in a different way and see that there is beauty and value in them. I collect bottle caps from local bars here in Philly. I save cans and tins – pretty much anything that is printed on metal will do. Most importantly though, Rotorcaps are about fun!”

There is no question that Jen has succeeded-she has handcrafted jewelry that encourages people to see value in the things we throw away.  Her jewelry is eye-catching, interesting and whimsical. She is inspired by her interest in common symbols found in mainstream advertising. Jen has found that by removing the symbol from the context of an everyday bottle cap, she transforms the meaning into a personal icon, to be celebrated by the individual.
