5 Healthy Superbowl Snacks for Kids

5 Healthy Superbowl Snacks for Kids Groovy Green Livin [1]

Superbowl XLIX is here! Enough talking about Deflate-Gate. I’m ready for game day.

Since moving to the Boston area it’s been impossible not to get caught up in the sports world. The transition from a Packers fan to a Patriots fan has been bumpy, but I’m now officially aligned with almost all the New England teams.

It’s time for the Patriots take on the Seahawks in Superbowl XLIX.

The game kicks off at 7:05 pm. My kids have assured me that they’re staying up for the entire game. They know that it wouldn’t be a Superbowl without a party and a few million snacks to choose from.

According to the Snack Food Association, in a single day (Super Bowl Sunday) Americans consume an estimated 30.4 million pounds of chips, dips, pretzels, popcorn and other treats.  [2]

This year I’m bucking the trend and suggesting a few healthy snacks to share at your Superbowl festivities.

Snacks that your kids will love. I’ve been collecting fantastic recipes from foodie bloggers on Pinterest [3]. Here are a few of my faves:

I’m loving this fruit rainbow [4] idea from Apartment Therapy [5]. What kid wouldn’t gobble that up?

How about bringing a batch of these Crispy Oven Roasted Chickpeas [6]?  Fifteen Spatulas [7] came up with a simple recipe that tastes delicious. Sure to be a Superbowl hit!

I’m loving these Chocolate Covered Strawberry Footballs [8] from My Mommy Style [9]. How cute are the white laces?!

If you’re looking for a gluten free option then pop on over to The Healthy Apple [10]. Amie has quite a few healthy, gluten free Superbowl recipes [11] to choose from.  The vegan, gluten free Almond Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies look divine.

This healthy snack is so simple, but with an added twist. It looks gorgeous and the peppers hold the dip [12]. Brilliant. Thanks to It’s Written on the Wall [13] for the inspiration.
